In After School Affairs, there are five guys in total whom you can pursue on the game and few supporting characters to compliment the story. To understand the relation between characters please look at the relationship chart below.
Here is the profile of each characters as shown on the game.
Below I will summarize the story of each guy and add my own personal view of the route so you might find spoilers ahead. Please read it at your own risk.
Rikiya Mononobe is the Science teacher, who’s famous for his teaching skill at the prep school. At first, the MC is kind of afraid of him because of his cold exterior and aggressive way of speaking. Not to mention he always ride his motorcycle to school and almost hit her on the first day she moved into the teacher’s residence. When she’s in charge of the lowest rank of boys’ class as Rikiya’s partner, she has so many doubts whether they can make the so called baddest students pass the standardized tests.
Later, she realizes that he actually very caring for the students and have confidence in his skill to make the students pass their test in spite of other teachers’ skepticism. She is drawn to him as they continue to work together to make the ‘worst class’ more worthy in front of the whole school.
Rikiya’s story was the second story I purchased after Kenzo’s, because I was very interested in his personality. Well, personally I’m always interested in guys with bad boy behavior in the game so it was just natural for me to pick him. When I was finished, I was quite disappointed by how the story went. In my opinion, the romance had very slow development. I couldn’t really tell if he has fallen for the MC or not until the last two chapters. It was a huge difference gap compared to Kenzo’s story.
Another minus point from me, the moment I read Rikiya’s background story, the story became predictable. Rikiya had an enemy, the MC got caught in his problems, she got kidnapped and Rikiya had to save her. There was no surprise element at all. That’s why I got disappointed because it reminded me of the things I don’t like from Kissed by the Baddest Bidder’s stories where the MC got kidnapped, A LOT (trust me). So, I’m sorry I have to put Rikiya on the last place for the main story.
After School Affairs is one of the otome game developed by Voltage, Inc. The game was published in 2016 and available in both App Store and Google Play. I have played several games published by Voltage, Inc. and I can say I love their games. Basically this game has the same mechanics and gameplay as the previous games by Voltage, Inc.
After School Affair has a nice colorful eye-catching theme, I guess maybe because the story was set in high school.
In this game you will play as an English teacher on an all boys high school. Your life began to change when suddenly the school merge with the all girls high school next door because of financial issue. Your new colleagues from the school next door are all interesting and not to mention they are all handsome guys. Unfortunately, because of the academic gap between two schools is quite big, all kinds of romance are forbidden for both teachers and students.
This is a bit late, but since I have a lot of things to say about this movie, I decided to create a review about it.
Justice League’s story centers around a group of DC superheroes consist of Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, the Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman. After the death of Superman, Batman realizes that the world could fall into a greater danger. So he attempts to unite other metahumans to help protecting the world. At the same time, Steppenwolf who failed to conquer the earth thousand years ago is back to retrieve the mother boxes and once again try to fulfill his mission.
At first only the Flash would join Batman and Wonder Woman, but later Aquaman and Cyborg also agrees to join because of the dire situation. They revive Superman using one of the mother boxes which has not been retrieved by Steppenwolf yet. Upon his revival, Superman’s memories were not back immediately, so he attacks the group confusing them as the enemy. Lois Lane arrives just in time when Batman is about to be killed by Superman and he calms down.
While Superman escapes to his hometown with Lois Lane to reflect and regain his memories, the group decides to face Steppenwolf by going to a village in Russia where Steppenwolf attempts to combine the mother boxes to recreate the earth. The group has a hard time dealing with Steppenwolf and his army, but Superman arrives in time to help them. The team defeats Steppenwolf, who is overwhelmed by fear is attacked by his own army.
This movie is said could become a match for Marvel’s The Avengers so it was one of the most anticipated superheroes movies in 2017. I watched it during the first week of its release on my country and it was an enjoyable movie, but I cannot say it was a good one considering the hype which has been built months before its release.
I felt that it was forced to follow the Marvel’s tone of movie, which is serious yet funny at the same time, but failed quite miserably. So the tone is somehow hanging in the middle between dark but not too dark and funny but not very funny. The jokes were sometimes funny enough to make you laugh out loud, but mostly just so-so. If I have to summarize the remarkable funny scenes, I could only tell you at most three scenes. Compared to Thor: Ragnarok which out on the same week or earlier or the other Marvel’s movie, it was a really small number.
In my opinion, DC should just stick with their darker tone like The Dark Knight trilogy. But then again, dark tone only means fewer audiences and resulting in less income. If they aim for larger audiences, then Marvel’s tone is a safe way. Maybe if they decide to follow that path, they should look for script writer as good as Marvel’s.
Unlike Marvel’s Avengers on which each member already have their own movies, Justice League characters are not properly introduced yet, maybe except Superman. So they spent quite a lot of time doing introduction for each member just like on Suicide Squad. These introductions were packed into few scenes which supposedly running at the same time, resulting in fast changing scenes in the movie. In my opinion, the transition was not very smooth. It felt like some scenes were cut in the middle and then replaced by another scene.
I cannot judge that DC made a mistake for not releasing the standalone movie first with Justice League as a wrap since there are only four movies for DCEU before Justice League so far: Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, and Wonder Woman. Even those movies are barely has connection to each other. I should wait for at least each Justice League characters have their own movie released and then make my judgement.
Another thing that bothers me is the Flash’s character. I’m not a fan of DC comics so I don’t know how it should be, but I think he was kinda overexcited and childish. From my perspective, I assume he was made like that in order to give a lighter tone to the movie. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Overall, Justice League is still an enjoyable movie despite its drawbacks. I hope the next DCEU movies will not make the same mistakes and I’m excited for the next Aquaman’s movie. Let’s see if the upcoming movies will fulfill the audiences’ expectation.
